"Incompatible Software Found" appears when installing Trend Micro Security software

You receive the following error message when installing your Trend Micro Security software:

Incompatible Software Found

"Incompatible Software Found
The installer must now remove what you see listed below to prevent interference with your Trend Micro security software."

 

Installation Incomplete... Error code #0, 1002, 0x00000000

"Installation Incomplete
The installer cannot remove some other security software that will interfere with your protection from Trend Micro. (error code: #0, 1002, 0x00000000)
No changes has been made to this computer."

 

This happens when the Trend Micro Security installer cannot remove a conflicting third-party security software.

Incompatible Software: System Mechanic Professional

To remove System Mechanic Professional, do the following:

  1. On the installation window, click Close.
  2. On your keyboard, press the Windows Windows Key + R keys.
  3. In the Open field, type "appwiz.cpl", then press ENTER. The Programs and Features window will open.
  4. Select System Mechanic Professional, then click Remove or Uninstall.
  5. Uninstall window will open. Click OK.

  6. Wait as it completes uninstalling the software.
  7. Click Yes to restart the computer.

  8. After restarting, click the Trend Micro installer.
  9. Provide your serial number, then continue the installation.


Incompatible Software: Search Protect

To remove Search Protect, do the following:

  1. On the installation window, click Close.
  2. On your keyboard, press the Windows Windows Key + R keys.
  3. In the Open field, type "appwiz.cpl", then press ENTER. The Programs and Features window will open.
  4. Select Search Protect, then click Remove or Uninstall.
  5. Uninstall window will open. Click Next.

  6. Wait as it completes uninstalling the software.
  7. Click Yes to restart the computer.
  8. After restarting, click the Trend Micro installer.
  9. Provide your serial number, then continue the installation.


Incompatible Software: McAfee WebAdvisor

To remove McAfee WebAdvisor, do the following:

  1. Click OK. The McAfee WebAdvisor Uninstaller window should appear.
  2. Click No thanks, just uninstall it.


    If you clicked Keep web protection, the installation of your Trend Micro Security will not continue.
  3. Wait as it completes uninstalling the software.

  4. Click No thanks to continue installing your Trend Micro Security.

Incompatible Software: McAfee LiveSafe

To remove McAfee LiveSafe, do the following:

  1. Click OK. The McAfee LiveSafe Uninstaller window should appear.
  2. Tick McAfee LiveSafe, then click Remove.


    If you clicked Cancel, the installation of your Trend Micro Security will not continue.
  3. Wait as it completes uninstalling the software.

  4. Click Restart now to finish uninstallation.

Incompatible Software: Avast Antimalware

To remove Avast Antimalware, do the following:

  1. Click OK. The Avast Antimalware Uninstaller window should appear.
    If you clicked Cancel, the installation of your Trend Micro Security will not continue.
  2. Click Uninstall.


    If you clicked either Activate my free 1-year license, Change, Update or Repair, the installation of your Trend Micro Security will not continue.
  3. A popup window will appear to confirm uninstalltion, click Yes.

  4. Wait as it completes uninstalling the software.

  5. Click Restart computer to finish uninstallation.


Incompatible Software: AVG Protection

To remove AVG Security, do the following:

  1. Click OK. The AVG Uninstaller window should appear.
    If you clicked Cancel, the installation of your Trend Micro Security will not continue.
  2. Click Uninstall.

  3. Click No, Uninstall.

  4. Wait as it completes uninstalling the software.

  5. Click No Thanks, just continue.

  6. Click Restart now to finish uninstallation.


Incompatible Software: ESET Security

To remove ESET Security, do the following:

  1. Click OK. The ESET Smart Security Setup Uninstaller window should appear.
    If you clicked Cancel, the installation of your Trend Micro Security will not continue.
  2. Click Next.

  3. Click Remove.

  4. Click Remove.

    Click Yes when the User Account Control window appears.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Wait as it completes uninstalling the software, then click Finish.

  7. Click Yes to restart your computer. This procedure will complete the uninstallation.


Incompatible Software: IObit Malware Fighter 4

To remove IObit Malware Fighter, do the following:

  1. Click OK. The IObit Malware Uninstaller window should appear.
    If you clicked Cancel, the installation of your Trend Micro Security will not continue.
  2. Click Uninstall.
  3. Wait as it completes uninstalling the software.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Click Yes to finish the uninstallation.
    A default browser will appear which shows the IOBit website.

  6. Close all open windows, then restart your computer.

Incompatible Software: Advanced SystemCare

To remove Advanced SystemCare, do the following:

  1. On the installation window, click Close.
  2. On your keyboard, press the Windows Windows Key + R keys.
  3. In the  Open field, type "appwiz.cpl", then press ENTER.
    The Programs and Features window will open.
  4. Select Advanced SystemCare, then click Remove or Uninstall.
  5. On the Advanced SystemCare window, Click Uninstall anyway.

  6. Wait as it completes uninstalling the software.
  7. Click Yes to restart the computer.

  8. After restarting, click the Trend Micro installer.
  9. Provide your serial number, then continue the installation.


Incompatible Software: Microsoft Security Essentials

To remove Microsoft Security Essentials, do the following:

  1. On the installation window, click Close.
  2. On your keyboard, press the Windows Windows Key + R keys.
  3. In the Open field, type "appwiz.cpl", then press ENTER.
    The Programs and Features window will open.
  4. Select Microsoft Security Essentials, then click Remove or Uninstall.
  5. On the Microsoft Security Essentials window, click Uninstall.

  6. Wait for the uninstallation to finish.
  7. Click Finish.

  8. Provide your serial number, then continue the installation.


Incompatible Software: Norton Security Scan

To remove Norton Security Scan, do the following:

  1. On the installation window, click Close.
  2. On your keyboard, press the Windows Windows Key + R keys.
  3. In the  Open  field, type "appwiz.cpl", then press ENTER. The Programs and Features window will open.
  4. Select Norton Security Scan, then click Remove or Uninstall.
  5. On the Norton Security Scan window, click Skip, then click I'm Sure.

  6. Click Finish.

  7. Provide your serial number, then continue the installation.

To permanently remove other previously installed Norton programs, do the following:

  1. Click the button below to download the Norton Remove and Reinstall (NRnR) tool:

  2. Double-click NRnR.exe to run the uninstaller.
  3. Read and accept the End User Licence Agreement, then click Agree.
  4. Click Advanced Options.
  5. Click Remove Only.
  6. Click Remove.
  7. Click Restart to completely remove Norton products. This will restart your computer.
  8. After your computer has restarted, click Close on the Norton Remove and Reinstall window.

To remove Malwarebytes, do any of the following:

Incompatible Software: Kaspersky

To remove Kaspersky, do the following:

  1. Click the button below to download the Kaspersky Lab Products Remover.

    Download Remover

  2. Double-click the kavremvr.exe icon to run it.
  3. Click Yes when the User Account Control appears.
  4. Read the license agreement, then click Accept.
  5. In the Kaspersky Lab Products Remover window, enter the code from the picture, then click Remove.
  6. Restart your computer.
  7. After restarting, reinstall your Trend Micro program.
