"Unable to Contact Trend Micro" error message appears after installing Password Manager

You receive the following error message after installing and opening the main console of Password Manager:

Unable to contact Trend Micro

"Unable to contact Trend Micro. Make sure that you can reach the Internet and try again."


To resolve the problem, follow the steps below:

Stop/Start All Components

To restart your Password Manager components, do the following:

  1. Open the Password Manager Diagnostic Toolkit by doing either of the following:
    For Windows 10
    For Windows 8/8.1
    For Windows 7
  2. Click the Uninstall tab.
  3. Click Stop All Components.

  4. If issue still persists, proceed to STEP 2: Disable Proxy Settings.

To disable your computer's proxy settings, do the following:

  1. On your keyoard, press Windows + R keys. Run window will open.
  2. In the open field, type "inetcpl.cpl". Internet Options window will open.
  3. Click Connections, then click LAN settings.

  4. Uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN.

  5. Click OK twice.
  6. If issue still persists, proceed to STEP 3: Disable Windows Firewall.
Disable Windows Firewall

To disable your Windows Firewall, do the following:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall.
  2. Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. Click Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) under each network location that you want to stop trying to protect, then click OK.
  4. If issue still persists, proceed to STEP 4: Re-install Password Manager.

To reinstall your Trend Micro Password Manager, do the following:
