Trend Micro Security scans your home network to look for devices without any security protection. It will look for Windows and macOS computers, or Android and iOS devices that can be protected as a bundle with Trend Micro Security.

The Internet connection is considered public, if it meets any of the following conditions:

  • The Wi-Fi name is public and visible to everyone.
  • The Wi-Fi connection has no password or it doesn’t require a password to connect.
  • The router device is commonly used for enterprise connection.
  • The domain network used is for enterprise setup.

To continue using this feature, connect your computer to a home network or manually add a device to protect.

If you are connected to a public network, whatever you do online could also be visible to others. They could see what websites you are visiting, read your emails, or see passwords you enter.

More than 20 devices are connected to this network

If there are more than 20 devices connected to the network, it is considered a public network.
