Problem Description

Automatically scan USB devices after plugging it into a machine installed with OfficeScan 10.6 Service Pack 1 or 11.0.

Solution

Important: Make sure that your OfficeScan server and clients are updated to 10.6+SP1+Patch1 (or Patch 1.1).
On your OfficeScan server, do the following:
  1. Open the Ofcscan.ini file in the \PCCSRV\ folder on the OfficeScan installation directory.
  2. Add the following keys under the Global Setting section and set the appropriate values:
    [Global Setting]
    EnableRTScanUSBInsert={x}
    USBScanConfirm={y}
    Where "x":
    0 = (default) do not perform an automatic real-time scan on a USB device after users plug in the device
    1 = automatically perform a real-time scan on a USB storage device after users plug in the device
    Where "y":
    0 = (default) do not prompt users to scan USB devices upon insertion
    1 = prompt users to decide whether to perform a scan on USB devices upon insertion
  3. Open the OfficeScan server web console and go to the Networked Computers > Global Client Settings page.
  4. Click Save to deploy the setting to clients.
The OfficeScan client program automatically installs the following registry key/s:
Path: HKLM\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\PC-cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\Real Time Scan Configuration\
Key: EnableRTScanUSBInsert
Value: 1
Path: HKLM\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\PC-cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\Real Time Scan Configuration\
Key: USBScanConfirm
Value: 1
