Problem Description

Learn how to add or remove the following to the exception list of your Trend Micro Security software:
  • Files
  • Folders
  • Programs
  • Websites
  • Wireless Connection

To add files, folders and websites to the Exception Lists, choose your program version below:

Trend Micro Security 2015

Add programs or folders
To add/remove programs or folders to the Exception Lists, follow the steps below:
  1. Open the main console of you Trend Micro Security program. Do any of the following:
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop.
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your system tray (near the clock).
  2. Click Settings (gear icon). This will open the Protection Settings window.

  3. Click the Exception Lists tab.

  4. Click Programs/folders, then click Add.

  5. Click Browse.
    Browse 
  6. Browse for the folder/program to add, then click Open.
     Choose or program to open
  7. Click OK to close the Add an Item window.
  8. Click Apply, then click OK.
Remove programs or folders
  1. Open the main console of you Trend Micro Security program. Do any of the following:
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop.
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your system tray (near the clock).
  2. Click Settings (gear icon). This will open the Protection Settings window.

  3. Click the Exception Lists tab.

  4. Click Programs/folders.
  5. Tick the program or folder you want to remove, then click the Remove button.

  6. Click Apply, then click OK.
Add/Block Website
  1. Open the main console of you Trend Micro Security program. Do any of the following:
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop.
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your system tray (near the clock).
  2. Click Settings (gear icon). This will open the Protection Settings window.

  3. Click the Exception Lists tab.

  4. Click Website then click Add.
     Website
  5. Type the website you want to be on the exception list and set the response to Trust or Block, then click OK.
    Type website address 
    Note: You can change the Response type of existing websites by clicking on the Edit button.

  6. Click Apply, then click OK.
Remove Wireless Connection
  1. Open the main console of you Trend Micro Security program. Do any of the following:
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop.
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your system tray (near the clock).
  2. Click Settings (gear icon). This will open the Protection Settings window.

  3. Click the Exception Lists tab, then click Wireless Connection.

  4. Click the Access Point you want to remove and then click Remove.
  5. Click Apply, then click OK.

 

Titanium 2013 and 2014

Add Programs or folders
To add/remove programs or folders to the Exception Lists, follow the steps below:
  1. Open the main console of you Titanium program. Do any of the following:
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop.
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your system tray (near the clock).
  2. Click Settings (gear icon). This will open the Protection Settings window.

  4. Click Programs/folders, then click Add.

  5. Click Browse.
    Add an item 
  6. Browse for the folder/program to add, then click Open.
     Browse program or folder
  7. Click OK to close the Add an Item window.
  8. Click Apply, then click OK.
Add a website
To add a website to the Exception Lists, follow the steps below:
  1. Open the main console of you Titanium program. Do any of the following:
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop.
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your system tray (near the clock).
  2. Click Settings (gear icon). This will open the Protection Settings window.
    Click Settings 
  3. Click the Exception Lists tab, then click Websites.
    Select Websites
     
  4. Click Add.
  5. Type the URL in the Add the address (URL) of a website field.
    Add or Edit an Item
     
  6. Under Response, select Block or Trust.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click Apply, then click OK.
Remove Wireless Connection
Tor remove a wireless connection from the Exception Lists, follow the steps below:
  1. Open the main console of you Titanium program. Do any of the following:
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your system tray (near the clock)
  2. Click Settings(gear icon). This will open the Protection Settings window.

  3. Click the Exception Lists tab, then click Wireless Connection.

  4. Click the Access Point you want to remove and then click Remove.

 

Titanium 2012 and 2011

Adding Files and Folders
  1. Open the Trend Micro Titanium main console. Do any of the following:
    • Go to Start > Programs or All Programs > Trend Micro Titanium > Trend Micro Titanium.
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop.
    • Right-click the Trend Micro icon in your system tray, then select Open Main Console.
  2. Click Settings (gear icon).

  3. Click Exception List.

  4. Click the category you want to add to the exception list.

  5. Click Add.
  6. Click Browse to search for the file or the folder that you want to add.

  7. Select the file or folder, then click Add to add the item.
Adding websites
  1. Open the Trend Micro Titanium main console. Do any of the following:
    • Go to Start > Programs or All Programs > Trend Micro Titanium > Trend Micro Titanium.
    • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop.
    • Right-click the Trend Micro icon in your system tray, then select Open Main Console.
  2. Click Settings (gear icon).
    Click Tools
  3. Click Exception List.

  4. Click the category you want to add to the exception list.

  5. Click Add.
  6. Type the URL or the link of the website you want to add, then select either of the following:
    • Block
    • Trust
  7. Click OK to add it to the Exception List.

  8. Click Apply, then click OK to save changes.
