“Protection Disabled... Restart Required” still appears when opening the main console of Titanium even after restarting the computer

Problem Description

You keep getting the "Protection Disabled" message when opening the main console of Trend Micro Titanium. This happens even after restarting your computer. The issue can happen because of a conflicting third-party security software, malware infection or if Trend Micro Titanium is not properly installed.

To resolve this issue, do any of the following:

OPTION1: Remove conflicting Software

For Windows XP:
  1. Go to Start Menu > Control Panel.
  2. Click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Wait for the list to populate, then look for the conflicting software on the list.

  4. Select the program, then click Remove.
For Windows Vista & Windows 7:
  1. Go to Start > Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs & Features or Uninstall a Program under the Programs section.
  3. Wait for the list to populate, then look for the conflicting software on the list.

  4. Select the program, then click Uninstall.
For Windows 8:
  1. Hover your mouse to the bottom left corner of the screen until you see the Start pictogram. 
  2. Right-click on the Start pictogram, then click Control Panel.
    Note: You can also access the Control Panel by pressing the WINDOWS Windows Key + I keys on your keyboard, then click Control Panel on the Charms bar's Settings menu located on the  bottom right of the screen.
  3. Select the program you wish to remove, then click Remove or Uninstall.

  4. Wait for the program to be uninstalled, then restart your computer when asked.

 

OPTION 2: Reinstall Trend Micro Titanium

STEP 1: Uninstall Trend Micro Titanium And Apply RegKeyFolderPermissionRecover2
  1. Click Start > Computer.
  2. Go to Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > Trend Micro folder > Titanium.
  3. Double-click SupportTool.exe.

  4. Click the (C) Uninstall tab.
  5. Click 1. Uninstall Software.

  6. Click Yes to continue. Your Trend Micro program should uninstall completely.

  7. Restart your computer.
  8. Download RegKeyFolderPermissionRecover2.exe and save it to your desktop.
  9. Double-click RegKeyFolderPermissionRecover2.exe to run it.
  10. Click Yes when the User Account Control window appears. Wait for the process to complete.

  11. Click OK when the Module Update window appears.

STEP 2: Reinstall Titanium and use Permission Tool
  1. Clear the temp folder. Follow the steps below:
    • For Windows XP:
      1. Go to Start > Run.
      2. On the Open field, type “%temp%” and then click OK.
      3. Select all files in the folder, then press Delete.
    • For Windows Vista and Windows 7:
      1. Click the Start button.
      2. On the Open field, type “%temp%” and then press Enter.
      3. Select all files in the folder, then press Delete.
  2. Download your Trend Micro program. Click your product below for instructions:
  3. Right-click the installer, then select Properties.
  4. Click the General tab.
  5. Click Unblock.
  6. Click Apply, then click OK.
  7. Run the Permission Tool.
    Note: Type “novirus” when prompted for a password.
  8. Right-click the installer, then select Run as Administrator.
  9. Follow the prompts and proceed with the installation of Trend Micro Titanium.

 

OPTION 3: Check for malware infection
