“Incompatible Software Found” error message appears when I install my Titanium program

Problem Description

You receive the following error message when you try to install your Titanium program:
 
Incompatible software found
"Incompatible Software Found Before installing the program, the installer must first remove the following incompatible software from this computer."
Note: The product name is not mentioned in the error message.

Solution

Note: Make sure you have removed all remnants of your previous security program before installing your Titanium program.
To resolve this issue, please follow the steps below:
  1. Click No to close the error message.
  2. Run the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit to completely uninstall the previous version of your program.
    Do this if you have just upgraded to Titanium from the following versions:
    • Trend Micro Internet Security
    • Trend Micro Internet Security Pro
  3. Restart your computer after you have uninstalled the program.
  4. Delete all the files in the C:\Windows\Temp folder.
  5. Delete all the files in the %temp%.
  6. Unhide hidden files. Follow the steps corresponding to your Operating System:
    For Windows Vista and 7:
    1. Click Start > Computer > Organize > Folder and search options.
    2. Click View tab.
    3. Click Show hidden files, folder and drives.
    4. Click Apply and then OK.
    For Windows XP:
    1. Click Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder options.
    2. Click View tab.
    3. Click Show hidden files, folder and drives.
    4. Click Apply and then OK.
  7. Delete the Trend Micro folder in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data folder or C:\Program Data folder for Windows Vista.
  8. Delete the Trend Micro folder from C:\Program Files.
  9. Go to Start > Run.
  10. Type "regedit" on the Open field, then press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
    Important: Editing your computer's registry can cause serious errors on your computer. Always create a backup before making any changes. If you need assistance, you can view the Help file by clicking Help > Help Topics on the Registry Editor window. You can also contact Trend Micro Technical Support.
  11. Go to the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software
  12. Delete the TrendMicro folder registry entry.
  13. Try installing the program again using the Titanium installer. Click your program for instructions:
