Problem Description

When I try to update my Trend Micro product, I encounter issues or receive error messages. How can I use this tool to update my program?
Note: This tool is not compatible with the latest versions of your Trend Micro program (Titanium). You may want to search our Knowledge Base using the exact error message text if you are getting this error on Titanium.

You can use this tool as another way to update your product. For instructions, please follow the steps below:
Note: Using the tool in this solution will update your product but may not remove the error messages that appear when updating normally.
  1. Download the Update Tool and save it onto your Desktop.
To do this, click on your operating system:
Note: Check first if you are using the 32-bit or 64-bit version of your Windows operating system.
If you are not sure how to download the tool, see below for instructions:
    1. Click on the link for your operating system above.
    2. Click Save on the File Download window.
    3. Select Desktop from the left pane as the location, then click Save.
    4. Wait for the download to finish.
  2. Run the Update Tool by doing any of the following:
    • For Windows Vista: Go to your desktop, right-click on the downloaded file, and select Run as Administrator.
    • For Windows XP: Go to your desktop and double-click on the downloaded file.
  3. Click OK to continue.
  4. Wait while the tool downloads and installs your updates.
Note: The tool will download over 50 megabytes (MB) in updates. This normally takes 10 to 15 minutes, but it may take longer, depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
If you receive the notification "Your computer might be at risk" in your system tray, ignore this while the Update Tool installs the latest updates.
  5. Click OK when prompted to restart the computer so the changes can take effect.
