Manually uninstalling the Security Server and Client/Server Security Agent

Problem Description

Note: The products for this solution have reached their End of Life (EOL) and End of Support (EOS). Please upgrade to the latest version of your product:

Worry-Free Business Security Advanced (formerly Client Server Messaging Security for SMB)
    •
Worry-Free Business Security Standard (formerly Client Server Security for SMB)


You need to manually uninstall the client when:

 

Automatic uninstallation from the Control Panel fails.

 

 

You cannot remember the uninstall password for the CSA.

 

 

You want to be sure that all the components of the Security Server and CSA are removed from the computer.

 

 

Solution

Please click on any of the following for the instructions:

 

Uninstall the Security Server

 

 

Uninstall the CSA

 

 

 

 

Uninstall the Security Server

 

 

1.

On the computer that hosts the Security Server, stop the Trend Micro Security Server Master Service.

 

 

 

If unable to stop the service, use Task Manager or Process Explorer from Sysinternal to stop the following processes.

 

 

 

 

OfcService.exe

 

DbServer.exe

 

 

2.

Open a command prompt window and go to the directory where the Security Server programs are installed.

 

 

 

Example: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV

 

 

3.

Enter the command below:

 

 

 

SVRSVCSETUP -uninstall

 

 

 

This removes the Trend Micro Security Server Master Service and the OfficeScan website.

 

 

4.

Disable sharing of the  ..\PCCSRV folder.

 

 

 

a.

Go to the ..\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Server.

 

 

 

 

b.

Right-click the PCCSRV folder, then select Properties.

 

 

 

 

c.

Under the Sharing tab, select Do not share this folder.

 

 

 

 

d.

Click Apply.

 

 

5.

Go to ..Program Files\Trend Micro\ and manually delete the Security Server directory.

 

 

6.

From the Windows Start menu, delete the program group Client Server Security for SMB:

 

 

 

a.

Click Start > Programs and then right-click Trend Micro Client Server Security for SMB.

 

 

 

 

b.

Select Delete.

 

 

7.

Manually delete the uninstall information from the registry.

 

 

 

Important: Always create a backup before modifying the registry. Incorrect registry changes may cause serious issues. Should this occur, restore it by referring to the "Restoring the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help topic in Regedt32.exe.

 

 

 

a.

Click Start > Run.

 

 

 

 

b.

Enter "regedit" and click OK.

 

 

 

 

c.

Delete the following registry hive:

 

 

 

 

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Security Server_<server_name>

 

 

8.

Delete the Security Server shortcut on your Desktop.

 

 

9.

Open a browser and click Tools > Internet Options.

 

 

10.

Go to the General tab and click Settings > View Objects.

 

 

11.

Right-click each of these objects and then click Remove:

Uninstall the CSA

 

Note: This procedure requires a system reboot.

 

1.

Stop the following services:

 

 

 

Trend Micro Client/Server Agent Listener

 

Trend Micro Client/Server Agent Personal Firewall

 

Trend Micro Client/Server Agent RealTime Scan

 

 

 

If unable to stop the service use Task Manager or Process Explorer from Sysinternal to stop the following processes:

 

 

 

TmListen.exe

 

Ntrtscan.exe

 

Ofcpfwsvc.exe

 

Pccntmon.exe

 

 

2.

Manually delete the Security Agent information in the registry:

 

 

 

Important: Always create a backup before modifying the registry. Incorrect registry changes may cause serious issues. Should this occur, restore it by referring to the "Restoring the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help topic in Regedt32.exe.

 

 

 

a.

Click Start > Run.

 

 

 

 

b.

Enter "regedit" and click OK.

 

 

 

 

c.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete OfficeScanNT hive.

 

 

 

 

d.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and delete OfficeScanNT Monitor.

 

 

 

 

e.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete the following:

 

 

 

Note: Do not restart the computer on this procedure when prompted.

 

 

 

 

Ofcpfwsvc

 

 

Ntrtscan

 

 

TM_CFW

 

 

TM Filter

 

 

TMListen

 

 

VSApiNT

 

 

TmPrefilter (Windows 2003 only)

 

 

 

3.

On the desktop, right-click My Computer and then select Manage.

 

 

4.

Click the Device Manager and then right-click it again.

 

 

5.

Click View > Show hidden devices.

Double-click Non-Plug and Play Drivers.

 

 

7.

Right-click each of these devices and click Uninstall:

 

 

 

Common Firewall Driver

 

OfficeScan_Master_Setup_service

 

Trend Micro FILTER

 

Trend Micro PreFilter (Windows 2003 only)

 

Trend Micro VSAPI NT

 

NTRTSCAN (if available)

 

TMLISTEN (if available)

 

 

8.

Go to .Program files\Trend Micro\ and manually delete Client Server Security Agent directory.

 

 

9.

From the Windows Start menu, delete the program group Client Server Security for SMB.

 

 

 

a.

Click Start > Programs and then right-click Trend Micro Client Server Security Agent.

 

 

 

 

b.

Select Delete.

 

 

 

10.

Clear the Windows %TEMP% folder.

 

 

11.

Restart the computer.

 

 

 

If this procedure fails, contact Trend Micro Technical Support for help in manually uninstalling the Security Server and CSA.
