[Hot Fix] B1127 - I get the error "Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working" when I open an animated image (GIF) in Internet Explorer 8

Problem Description

When I try to open an animated image or GIF file in Internet Explorer 8, I receive the following error message:

 

 

"Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working."

Solution

This may be a Trend Micro Toolbar issue. To resolve this, please follow the steps below:

 

Important: We recommend that you print out this document before proceeding because you will be asked to restart your computer during the procedure.

 

1.

Download the hot fix file.

 

 

2.

When the File Download window appears, click Save.

 

 

3.

Click Desktop on the left pane to select it as the download location, then click Save.

 

 

4.

Once the download is finished, close all open Internet Explorer browsers.

 

 

5.

Go to your desktop and double-click the TISP2010_1750_win_en_toolbar_hfb1127.exe file.

 

 

6.

Wait until the file finishes extracting its contents.

 

 

7.

Click Install to start applying the hot fix.

 

 

8.

When asked to update your security software, click Yes. This will install the hot fix.

 

 

 

Once the installation is complete, you will be asked to restart your computer.

 

 

9.

Click OK.

 

 

10.

When the message "Installation successful" appears, click OK.

 

 

Notes:

To confirm if the hot fix has been applied, check the version of your Trend Micro Toolbar and TSToolbarBHO in Internet Explorer 8's Manage Add-ons tool. To do this, go to Check Tools > Manage Add-ons > Enable or Disable Add-ons. The version should be 1.6.0.1127.
