"Turn on Trend Micro Toolbar to check your privacy" message appears when using the Trend Micro Privacy Scanner

You get the following error message when using the Trend Micro Privacy Scanner:
Turn on Trend Micro Toolbar to check your privacy
"Turn on Trend Micro Toolbar to check your privacy"
This message appears when you try to use the Trend Micro Privacy Scanner but the Trend Micro Toolbar is disabled.

Trend Micro Toolbar works with your web browser to warn you about any security risks associated with the websites you try to visit. Trend Micro Toolbar should appear automatically in your web browser if you select Display the Trend Micro Toolbar on supported web browsers

To resolve the issue, follow the steps below:
Enable the Trend Micro Toolbar in Google Chrome
To enable the Trend Micro toolbar on Google Chrome, do the following:
  1. Click the Store icon below to go to Google Chrome Web Store:

  2. Click Add to Chrome to download the Trend Micro Toolbar.
  3. Click Add when the Confirm New Extension window appears.
    Note: A notification saying "Trend Micro Toolbar has been added to Chrome." will appear. You will now see the Trend Micro Toolbar icon on the upper-right part of Google Chrome.

Enable the Trend Micro Toolbar in Internet Explorer
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the gear icon on the upper right hand corner.
  3. Click Manage add-ons.
  4. Click Trend Micro Security Toolbar, then click Enable.
  5. Select all Trend Micro toolbars, then click Enable.
    Tick the check box before the following:
    • Trend Micro Security Toolbar ActiveX
    • Trend Micro Security Toolbar
    • Trend Micro Security Toolbar Helper
    • Trend Micro Network Filter Plugin
    • Trend Micro IE Protection

  6. Click Close.
  7. Check the Trend Micro Toolbar. It should now be enabled.

Enable the Trend Micro Toolbar Mozilla Firefox
Enable Trend Micro Toolbar on Firefox
  1. Open Mozilla Firefox.
  2. Click Firefox and then click Add-ons.
  3. Click Enable on all Trend Micro extensions.
    • Trend Micro BEP Firefox Extension
    • Trend Micro Osprey Firefox Extension
    • Trend Micro Toolbar
  4. Restart Firefox by clicking Restart Now.
  5. Close the Add-on Manager Tab.
  6. Check the Trend Micro Toolbar. It should now be enabled.

Does Trend Micro Security software support Edge?
Microsoft has not yet provided a way to build extensions/add-ons for us to deliver the same functionality and protection we do in IE11. Once that becomes available, we will definitely create our TrendProtect Toolbar.

In addition, PC Health Checkup also supports Edge which allows you to clean privacy data and use its proxy settings to connect to the internet. Security Report will also contain the optimization done by Trend Micro Security on Edge browser.

Run the Privacy Scanner
To use the Trend Micro Privacy Scanner, follow the steps below:
  1. Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop to open the main console.
  2. Click the Privacy tab.
  3. Click Configure on the right side of Privacy Scanner.
    Note: The Privacy Scanner window will open. By default, the Privacy Scanner feature is turned on. You can turn off the feature by clicking the slider.

  4. Click the Check Now button under Social Network Privacy to check your Privacy settings on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  5. Click the Check Now button under Web Browser Privacy to check the privacy settings of your web browsers.
