[Hotfix] Scan hangs at 70% to 80%

When scanning using your Trend Micro Security, the full scan or quick scan hangs at 70% to 80%. It shows "Preparing to optimize" on any of the following:

  • Finding Unprotected Passwords
  • Finding Unneeded Files
  • Seeking System Vulnerabilities
  • Reviewing Startup Programs
  • Checking for Privacy Concerns

To resolve the issue, run the hotfix. Do the following:


To install this hotfix, you must log onto your computer using an account with administrator privileges. If you have installed software on your computer before, you probably have these privileges.

We recommend that you print out this document or bookmark this page before proceeding because you will be asked to restart your computer during the procedure.

  1. Exit the Trend Micro program:
    1. Right-click the Trend Micro icon TM icon in the System Tray (near the clock at the bottom right part of the screen). 
      If you do not see the System Tray icon, click the arrow button to show the rest of the icons.
    2. Select Exit.

    3. Wait for Trend Micro's System Tray icon (near the clock at the bottom right part of the screen) to disappear.
      Once the icon disappears, Trend Micro is now disabled.
  2. Click the button below to download the hotfix:

  3. Double-click the Ti_120_win_en_Platinum_hfb1037.exe file once the download is complete.
  4. Accept the License Agreement and click the Next button.
  5. Click the Install button.
  6. Click OK when a warning window opens.
  7. Restart your computer.
  8. Open the Trend Micro program again. Follow the steps below depending on your operating system.
    Windows 10
    Windows 8/8.1
    Windows 7
  9. Run a scan by clicking on the Scan button at the center of your Trend Micro console.
