“Too Many Installations” error message appears when activating your Trend Micro Security software
You receive the following error message/s when you activate your Trend Micro program:
"Too Many Installations.
You may only activate this software on a limited number of computers. Because you have reached that limit, you must either stop protecting another computer, or buy another subscription."
This happens when there are no available license seats left for your program. The license seat is used when you:
- Installed the program on your computer or other computers
- Installed the program on the same computer more than once
- Reinstalled the program on the same computer after reformatting its hard drive
- Upgraded the program on the same computer where an old version was previously installed
- Installed and activated any of the following bundled programs using your Trend Micro Security Serial Number:
- Antivirus for Mac
- Mobile Security for iOS
- Mobile Security for Android
Your Trend Micro Security subscription has different license seats:
- Premium Security = 6 seats
- Maximum Security = up to 5 seats
- Internet Security = 3 seats
- Antivirus+ Security = 1 seat
- In the Password field, type your Trend Micro Account password, then click Next.
- Select the computer or device, where the program was previously activated, that you want to replace.
- Provide a computer name, then click Next.
Example: "Home Computer" or "Office Computer".A confirmation window will appear.
- Click Finish.You have now activated the protection on your computer.
- Open the Trend Micro Account website.
- Type your Trend Micro Account email address and password, then click Sign In.
- Look for your product from the list.
- Click the X icon next to the device/computer you wish to delete.
- Click Disable Now to confirm the removal.
The device/computer will be removed from your account and you can now install your Trend Micro program on your new device/computer.
- Click the Download button that corresponds to the program that you need to install.
- For Windows computer
- For Mac computer
- For Windows computer
- Double click the installer when the download finishes.
Select your program version for the detailed steps how to install:
- Close the Too Many Installations window by clicking on the X button on the upper-right corner.
- Open the main console of your Trend Micro security. Do either of the following:
- Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop.
- Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your system tray.
- A Not Yet Activated window will appear.
- Click on Activate Now.
A confirmation window will appear.
- Type the name of your computer, then click Next.
- Click Finish. You have now activated the protection on your computer.
