- Windows 8 End of Support | Trend Micro Official Statement
This article contains Trend Micro's official statement regarding Windows 8 End of Support (EOS).
Microsoft has announced that all official support for the Windows 8 OS has ended on January 12, 2016, which includes all bug fixes and vulnerability patches. After January 12, any new vulnerability that may be discovered or targeted at Windows 8 will not be addressed by Microsoft and may be of concern to users, especially those who have not yet upgraded to the latest supported OS.
Trend Micro continues to recommend that users upgrade to the latest supported version of an OS as soon as possible, but also understands that not everyone is able to upgrade on a regular basis, especially on older machines. In order to help our consumers safely upgrade to the latest operating system, Trend Micro Security 2018 line of products can still be installed to Windows 8 machines but with limited technical support for issues that might be encountered.
While our Internet Security products can be installed on Windows 8, we encourage all of our users to upgrade their PCs to a more modern operating system which will provide greater stability and security.
After the End of Support date, we will provide limited technical support for issues encountered on Windows 8. Windows 8 users can visit esupport.trendmicro.com/consumer for technical solutions or can consider upgrading to the latest operating system to stay protected.
