“Starting your protection” appears from the Trend Micro program

You get the following message when you point your mouse over the Trend Micro icon in your system tray:
“Starting your protection”
You also cannot do the following:
  • Open the program’s main console
  • Go online after installing your Trend Micro program
To resolve this issue, you can upgrade your program to the latest version.
Depending on your product, follow the steps in any of these KB articles:
If you wish to stay on your current version, follow the steps below.
To resolve this issue, uninstall your program using the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit and do a reinstall it. Follow the steps below:
Important: We recommend that you print out this document or bookmark this page before proceeding because you will be asked to restart your computer during the procedure.
  1. Go to Start > All Programs > Trend Micro Titanium > Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit.
  2. Click the (C) Uninstall tab when the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit window appears.
  3. Click 1. Uninstall Software and wait while the program is being uninstalled.
  4. Click Yes when prompted to restart your computer.
  5. Reinstall your program. Download the 2013 version of your program below:
