"Protection Disabled" error message appears when opening the main console of Titanium because the program's services are not running or have stopped responding

You get the following error message when opening the main console of your Trend Micro Titanium program:
Protection Disabled
Titanium 2012
Protection Disabled
Titanium 2013
"Protection Disabled Please contact Trend Micro for help immediately."
This message appears because one or all of Trend Micro Titanium's services are not running or have stopped responding.
To resolve the issue, follow the steps below:
  1. Restart Trend Micro Titanium's services. You can do this by following the steps below:
    1. Go to Start > Programs > <Trend Micro Titanium program>.
    2. Click Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit.
    3. Click the Uninstall tab.
    4. Click Stop all components. Wait until all the buttons are enabled.
    5. Click Start all components. Wait until all the buttons are enabled again.
    6. Close the Diagnostic Toolkit and open your Trend Micro Titanium program.
      If the issue persists, proceed to step 2.
  2. Check for and remove any malicious software or malware (viruses or spyware) that may be on your computer.
