Problem Description

This article lists down the new features available in WFBS 5.0 and 5.1.

Solution

WFBS 5.0 inherits all the features of previous CSM versions and provides the following:

Location Awareness

 
 

WFBS Advanced can identify the location of a client based on Server Gateway information. Administrators can have different security settings based on the location of the client (roaming or within the office).

   

Threat Status

 
 

Web Reputation and Behavior Monitoring statistics can be viewed on the Live Status page.

   

Plug-in Manager

 
 

Plug-in programs are designed to add new features and security capabilities into WFBS Advanced and enhance the product's features. Plug-in Manager facilitates the installation, deployment and management of plug-in programs.

   

User Interface

 
 

The Security Server now comes with a new and improved user interface.

New Client/Server Security Agent Features

 

Windows Vista Support

 
 

Client/Server Security Agents can now be installed on Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit) computers.

   

Behavior Monitoring

 
 

This protects clients from unauthorized changes to the operating system and other programs.

   

Web Reputation Services

 
 

This evaluates the potential security risk of each requested URL by querying the Trend Micro security database at the time of each HTTP request.

   

Instant Message Content Filtering

 
 

This can restrict the use of certain words or phrases while using instant messaging applications.

   

Software Protection

 
 

This enables WFBS Advanced to protect .EXE and .DLL files in particular folders on clients.

   

POP3 Mail Scan

 
 

This protects clients against security risks transmitted through email messages. This can also detect spam.

   
 

Note:POP3 Mail Scan cannot detect security risks and spam in IMAP messages. You need to use Messaging Security Agent for this.

   

TrendSecure

 
 

This feature comprises a set of browser-based tools, such as TrendProtect and Transaction Protector, that enable users to surf the Web securely. TrendProtect warns users about malicious and phishing Web sites. Transaction Protector determines the safety of your wireless connection by checking the authenticity of the access point, and includes a tool to encrypt personal information users type into Web pages.

   

Plug-in Manager Support

 
 

Manage additional plug-ins for Client/Server Security Agent from the Security Server.

Client/Server Security Agents can now display the interface based on the locale language.
