Problem Description

This article contains instructions on how to upgrade the WFBS Advanced Security Server, which includes the Messaging Security Agent and the Client/Server Security Agent. The following versions can upgrade directly to WFBS 6.0 Advanced SP3:

    o WFBS 5.0/5.1 Advanced
    o WFBS 6.0 Advanced
    o WFBS 6.0 SP1 Advanced
    o WFBS 6.0 SP2 Advanced

Note:

•  If you want to view the upgrade procedure via video streaming, refer to the WFBS 6.0 Product Page.

•  If you are using WFBS Standard, please go to this solution: Upgrading WFBS Standard to version 6.0 SP3.

• Client Server Security (CS) or Client Server Messaging Security 3.6 (CSM 3.6) has no direct upgrade path to SP3. You need to first upgrade your CS/CSM 3.6 to WFBS 6.0 or WFBS 6.0 SP2 and then perfrom an upgrade to SP3.

Solution

Please do the following:

Note: Upgrading to WFBS 6.0 SP2 or SP3 automatically disables the Firewall and Behavior Monitoring features on all clients in existing server groups. This is to avoid impacting critical server applications. Behavior Monitoring is now disabled by default on clients in server groups, while the Personal Firewall remains disabled by default on all clients.

1.

Back up the Security Server database. Refer to this solution: Files to back up before upgrading to WFBS Advanced 6.0

Note: All files are automatically backed up in C:\trend_backup when upgrading to WFBS 6.0 SP3.

2.

Delete all log files by doing the following:

a.

Log on to the WFBS console.

b.

Go to Reports > Maintenance > Manual Log Deletion.

c.

Under Log Type section, enter "0" on the Delete logs older than field and then click Delete.

d.

Repeat Step 2c for all Log Types.

3.

Do one of the following:

Insert the installation CD on a disk drive.

Download the installer from the Trend Micro Update Center.

    - For WFBS 5.0/5.1, click the Product Download/Update tab > WFBS 6.0 with Service Pack 3.

    - For WFBS 6.0, 6.0 SP1 or 6.0 SP2, click Service Pack tab > Service Pack 3 for WFBS Advanced 6.0.

4.

Double-click the installer file on the Security Server to start the upgrade.

5.

Wait a while as the file is decompressed.

6.

Click Next when you see the Welcome to the Install Shield Wizard for Trend Micro Installation page.

7.

Accept the license agreement terms, then click Next.

The setup detects that you have an older version of the product.

8.

Enter the required Exchange Server information.

9.

Choose a spam management type:

Note: If you had installed the Messaging Security Agent (MSA) on WFBS 5.0 / 5.1, you will not have the option to switch its spam management type.

End User Quarantine

Note: This option is grayed out when using Exchange 2007.

Outlook Junk E-mail folder

Note: This is an option if you are using Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 or higher.

10.

Wait for the MSA upgrade process to complete. This may take a few minutes.

If you are using Essential Business Server (EBS) 2008 or Small Business Server (SBS) 2008, click Next on Trend Micro Add-Ins.

 11.

When the upgrade is finished, select if you will view the readme file or open the WFBS Advanced console.

12.

Click Finish. All Client/Server Securiy Agents will automatically upgrade.
