Problem DescriptionThis article discusses steps in improving the bootup speed of computers installed with the WFBS 6.0 CSA. Solution To increase the bootup speed of computers installed with WFBS 6.0 Client/Server Security Agent, please do the following: 1. If you are using WFBS 6.0 Service Pack (SP) 1 and above: Disable the CSA's self-protection by doing Steps a-d below. Otherwise, proceed to Step 2. Note: This feature is enabled by default, and is meant to prevent changes in the CSA's registries, files and folders on 32-bit operating systems. a. Log on to the WFBS console. b. Go to Security settings > Group (Configure) > Client Privileges. c. Under Client Security section, select Normal. d. Click Save. Note: Enable self-protection again once the procedure is completed. 2. Delay the RealTimeScan process from starting at startup. a. On the client computer, open the Registry Editor (regedit.exe). Important: Always create a backup before modifying the registry. Incorrect registry changes may cause serious issues. Should this occur, restore it by referring to the "Restoring the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help topic in Regedt32.exe. b. For 32 bit: Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\PC-cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\Real Time Scan Configuration registry hive. For 64 bit: Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\TrendMicro\PC-cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\Real Time Scan Configuration registry hive. c. Change the value of the registry key "NTRtScanInitSleep" to "60000" (DWORD, Decimal). Note: The unit is in milliseconds. Also, the value can vary depending on your need. Delaying the Realtime scan service has a security risk. This means that the machine will not have scanning while booting up. If you need technical assistance, contact Trend Micro Technical Support. Related Information: Copying or downloading large compressed files is slow when the WFBS Agent is installed
