Manually uninstalling the Client/Server Security Agent (CSA) of Worry-Free Business Security (WFBS) 5.x and 6.0

Problem Description

This article describes the step-by-step procedure on manually uninstalling a Client/Server Security Agent (CSA) of WFBS 5.x and 6.0. The procedure is useful when:

 

You cannot install the client with any of the methods described in the administrator manual.

 

 

You want to be sure that all the components of the client are removed from the computer.

Solution

Note: You can use the uninstall tool to remove the CSA/SA instead of doing the procedure below. Refer to this article: Manually uninstalling the WFBS Agent using the uninstall tool.

 

Please do the following:

 

For WFBS 6.0 Service Pack 1 and above, you will not be able to stop/kill CSA services and processes due to the Client Self-Protection feature. Before you proceed with the procedure below, disable the Client Self-Protection feature first. Refer to this article: Disabling CSA self-protection in WFBS.

 

 

You may want to print this solution before continuing because it requires restarting the computer.

 

 

1.

If TrendProtect or Transaction Protector is already installed, do the following:

 

 

 

a.

Open the Client/Server Security Agent console.

 

 

 

 

b.

Click Security Protection tab.

 

 

 

 

c.

Click Uninstall for TrendProtect or Transaction Protector.

 

 

 

Otherwise, go to Step 2.

 

 

2.

Open the Services console by doing the following:

 

 

 

a.

On your desktop, click Start > Run.

 

 

 

 

b.

On the Open field, type "services.msc" and then click OK.

 

 

3.

On the right pane, right-click each of the following services, and then click Stop.

 

 

 

Trend Micro Client/Server Security Agent Listener

 

 

 

 

Trend Micro Client/Server Security Agent Personal Firewall

 

 

 

 

Trend Micro Client/Server Security Agent RealTime Scan

 

 

 

 

Trend Micro Client/Server Security Agent Proxy Service

 

 

 

 

Trend Micro Unauthorized Change Prevention Service

 

 

4.

Open the Registry Editor (regedit.exe).

 

 

 

Important: Always create a backup before modifying the registry. Incorrect registry changes may cause serious issues.  Should this occur, restore it by referring to the "Restoring the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help topic in Regedt32.exe.

 

 

5.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete the following registry keys:

 

 

 

Ntrtscan

 

OfcPfwSvc

 

Tmactmon

 

TMBMServer

 

TMCFW

 

Tmcomm

 

Tmevtmgr

 

TmFilter

 

Tmlisten

 

TmPfw

 

TMPreFilter

 

TmProxy

 

Tmtdi

 

VSApiNt

 

 

6.

Go to one of the following registry hives:

 

 

 

For 32-bit OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\TrendMicro

 

 

 

 

For 64-bit OS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\TrendMicro

 

 

 

and delete the following:

 

 

 

NSC

 

 

 

 

OfcWatchDog

 

 

 

 

Pc-cillinNTCorp

 

 

7.

For 32-bit OS: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WINDOWS\
CurrentVersion\Run and delete the "OfficeScanNT Monitor" key.

 

 

 

For 64-bit OS: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ Windows\

CurrentVersion\Run and delete the "OfficeScanNT Monitor" key.

 

 

8.

For 32-bit OS: Delete HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WINDOWS\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\OfficeScanNT.

 

 

 

For 64-bit OS: Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\

CurrentVersion\Uninstall\OfficeScanNT.

 

 

9.

Go to Start > Programs.

 

 

10.

Right-click Trend Micro Client-Server Security Agent and then click Delete.

 

 

11.

Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.

 

 

12.

Double-click Network Connections.

 

 

13.

Right-click a NIC and select Properties.

 

 

14.

Remove Trend Micro Common Firewall Driver or Trend Micro NDIS 6.0 Filter Driver.

 

 

15.

Repeat Steps 13 and 14 for each NIC.

 

 

16.

Log on to the WFBS console.

 

 

17.

Click Security Settings.

 

 

18.

Select the offline Client Server Security Agent from the Client Management Tree.

 

 

19.

Click Remove.

 

 

20.

Select Remove the selected inactive agent(s).

 

 

21.

Click Apply.

 

 

22.

On your Desktop, right-click My Computer and select Manage.

 

 

23.

Click the Device Manager, then right-click it again.

 

 

 

 

24.

Click View > Show hidden devices.

 

 

25.

Double-click Non-Plug and Play Drivers.

 

 

26.

Right-click each of the following devices and click Uninstall.

 

 

 

Important: Do not restart the computer at this point.

27.

Restart the computer.

 

 

28.

Go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro and delete these folders:

 

 

 

BM

 

Client/Server Security Agent

 

TrendProtect

 

TrendSecure
