I get the error “You have already installed a newer version of Trend Micro Internet Security on this computer” when installing my Trend Micro product

Problem Description

Below is the window and text of the error message that appears when I try to uninstall Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware, Trend Micro Internet Security, or Trend Micro Internet Security Pro:

“You have already installed a newer version of Trend Micro Internet Security on this computer. Do you really want to change to an earlier version?”

Solution

This error message appears if you try to reinstall your Trend Micro Home and Home Office product using an old installer file without installing your product first. To avoid receiving this error message, please click No, then do the following:

 

1.

Uninstall your Trend Micro program. For instructions on how to do this, refer to solution EN-1037931.

2.

Download the latest installer file for your Trend Micro program. For instructions, refer to solution EN-1037208.

   

If you encounter issues while installing your Trend Micro program after performing steps 1 and 2, use the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit to totally remove remnant files from your Trend Micro program. For instructions on how to do this, see solution EN-1037161
