How to upgrade Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009 for Dell to the 2010 version

Problem Description

I have an unexpired license for Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009 for Dell. I want to avail of the free upgrade to version 2010 (also known as Trend Micro Internet Security 3.0 for Dell). How do I do this?

 

Important: The free upgrade is only valid for current subscriptions. If your subscription has expired, you will need to purchase the program from the Dell Online Store. For more details, refer to solution EN-1054866.

Solution

Note: If you are in the United States, you can purchase a Premium Installation Service incident to have a Trend Micro expert install the program for you. For more information or to buy the service, visit our Premium Services Portal.

 

You can install Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2010 for Dell over the 2009 version without manually uninstalling the older program on your computer. Please do the following:

 

Important: We recommend that you print out this document before proceeding because you will be asked to restart your computer during the procedure.

 

1.

Make sure your computer meets the program’s minimum system requirements.

 

 

 

 

If these requirements are not met, you may not be able to run or install the program properly.

2.

Download the installer file by clicking on the link below. Save the file onto your desktop.

For instructions on how to download the installer, see below:

Close all open programs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

b.

Start the download by clicking on the link above.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

c.

When the File Download window appears, click Save.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

d.

On the Save As window, select Desktop from the left pane as the location, then click Save.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

e.

Wait until the download is complete.

 

 

 

 

 

3.

On the Download Complete window, click Run.

 

 

 

 

Note: If the download window disappears after the download completes, go to your desktop and double-click on the installer file, tis17.5pro_dell_en_setup.exe.

 

 

 

4.

When your old Trend Micro program is detected and you are prompted to uninstall the old version, click Yes.

 

 

5.

Wait while the program is removed and the setup program makes sure your computer meets the program’s system requirements.

 

 

6.

Read the License Agreement, select I accept the terms of the license agreement, and click Next.

 

 

7.

When prompted, type your serial number into the field provided and click Next.

 

 

8.

On the Install Options window, select Regular Installation (recommended) to install the program using the recommended settings, then click Next.

 

 

9.

Wait while the older version of Trend Micro Internet Security Pro is uninstalled.

 

 

10.

Once the removal is complete and you are prompted to restart your computer, click Restart Now.

 

 

11.

Wait while the installer activates the various modules for Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2010.

 

 

12.

Verify your registration details, and click Finish.

 

 

13.

Once you have successfully installed the program, run an initial update and scan to ensure you have the latest protection available.
