How to upgrade Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2008 or 2009 to the 2010 version

Problem:

I have an unexpired license for Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware (either 2008 or 2009 versions). I want to avail of the free upgrade to Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2010. How do I do this?

Important: The free upgrade is only valid for current subscriptions. If your subscription has expired, you will need to either purchase a license renewal via our online store or buy the upgrade from a local retail store.

*Important:* This solution is for updating upon the release of Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2010, Trend Micro Internet Security 2010, and Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2010.

You can install Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2010 over either 2008 or 2009 versions without uninstalling the older program on your computer. Please do the following:

*Important:* We recommend that you print out this document before proceeding because you will be asked to restart your computer during the procedure.

1.	Make sure your computer meets the program’s minimum system requirements.

		If these requirements are not met, you may not be able to run or install the program properly.

		You can find a list of these requirements in solution EN-1054204.

2.	Take note of your serial number.

		For instructions on how to find this, refer to solution EN-1037629.

3.	Download the installer file by clicking on your operating system from the list below. Save the file onto your desktop.

		Note: For instructions on finding out whether you are using the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows, refer to solution EN-1038409 for Windows Vista and EN-1054432 for Windows 7. This product does not support the 64-bit version of Windows XP at this time.

			·	32-bit version of Windows XP, Vista, or 7
			·	64-bit version of Windows Vista or 7

		For instructions on how to download the installer, see below:

			a.	Close all open programs.

			b.	Start the download by clicking on the link above.

			c.	When the File Download window appears, click Save.

			d.	On the Save As window, select Desktop from the left pane as the location, then click Save.

			e.	Wait until the download is complete.

4.	Run the installer file.

		To do this, follow either of the following steps:

		·	On the Download Complete window, click Run.

		·	Go to your desktop and double-click on the installer file.

5.	When your old Trend Micro program is detected and you are asked if you want to upgrade to the latest version, click Yes.

6.	Read the License Agreement, select I accept the terms of the license agreement, and click Next.



7.	When prompted, type your serial number into the field provided and click Next.



8.	On the Install Options window, select Regular Installation (recommended) to install the program using the recommended settings, then click Next.

9.	Wait while the older version of Trend Micro Internet Security Pro is uninstalled.

10.	Once the removal is complete and you are prompted to restart your computer, click Restart Now.

11.	Wait while the installer activates the various modules for Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2010.

12.	Make sure you are connected to the internet by the time the installation is complete.

13.	When you are prompted to activate your subscription, click Activate Now.



14.	Type your registration information into the fields provided and click Next.

15.	Once you are informed that your protection has been activated, click Finish.
