Solution You can configure your program preferences for Trend Micro Smart Surfing for Mac so it follows an update schedule you can set according to your needs or lifestyle. To learn how to do this, please refer to the steps below: Note: If you use a proxy server to connect to the Internet, you may need to set proxy server credentials for Trend Micro Smart Surfing in order for it to access the Internet and download updates. If you have never needed to provide proxy server information to connect to the Internet before, it is unlikely you will need to use the Proxy Settings tab. Marking or clearing the checkbox on this tab also changes the Overview screen's Automatic Updates switch, and vice versa. 1. Click Trend Micro Smart Surfing on your Search bar and select Open Preferences from the dropdown menu. 2. Go to the Updates tab. 3. Make sure the protection vault is not locked. Otherwise, the settings will be grayed out, and you will not be able to make changes to them. If the protection vault is locked, you can unlock it by clicking on the lock icon and typing your administrator password into the field provided. Note: The administrator password is the one you created when you first set up your Mac system. 4. Set the frequency at which you want to receive updates to your program. You can do this by clicking on the appropriate radio button. 5. Save your changes by clicking OK.
