Solution

Quick Scans are one of the three different types of manual scans you can run using your Trend Micro program. This type of scan performs instant checking for security threats in the places they are most likely to hide in on your computer.

Note: This type of scan is only available for the 2009 and 2010 versions of Trend Micro Internet Security Pro, Trend Micro Internet Security, and Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware. For more information on other manual scan options, please visit the frequently asked questions about scanning [EN-1054787].

To run a Quick Scan, follow the steps below:

1.

Open your Trend Micro program to bring up the main console.

To do this, double-click on the Trend Micro program icon on your desktop or in your system tray, located beside your computer’s clock. For more detailed instructions, refer to solution EN-1036436.

2.

Click Scan Now, located beside the Update Now button.

A new window showing you your scan’s progress will appear.

3.

Wait for the scan to finish.

If no threats are found, the scan window will disappear as long as the box beside Close this window automatically if no threats are found on the progress window is ticked. (This is ticked by default.)

If security threats were detected, you will see a summary of the findings and what actions your Trend Micro program automatically performed to resolve the issue.

If your program detects infected files it cannot clean, quarantine, or delete during the scan, you can manually remove these using the TwinFix Tool. For instructions on how to use this, refer to solution EN-1054793.
