TwinFix is tool for removing malware (malicious software like viruses, spyware, or Trojans) that works with the Virus.txt file, which you may create or which may be created and sent to you by your support engineer. The text file contains the list of malware files you wish to remove.
Note: You do not have to be a user of Trend Micro products to use the TwinFix tool.

To remove malware using this tool, please follow the steps below:
|

1.

Create the Virus.txt file by doing the following:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
a.
|
Open Notepad by clicking Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
b.
|
List the locations and filenames of up to thirty (30) malware files you wish to remove.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
c.
|
On the last line, type your name.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
d.
|
Save the text file onto your desktop as "Virus.txt".
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
2.

Read the License Agreement for the TwinFix tool.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Only proceed with the next step if you agree with its terms.
|
|
|
|
|
3.
|
Download and run TwinFix.exe by doing the following:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
a.
|
Close all open applications.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
b.
|
Download the TwinFix.exe file using the link below and save it to your desktop:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

When the File Download window opens, click Save.
|
|
|

On the Save As window, select Desktop as the location for the downloaded file and click Save.

Run TwinFix.exe by doing either of the following:
|

|
|
|

|

For Windows XP, double-click on the TwinFix.exe file.
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|

For Windows Vista, right-click on the TwinFix.exe file then select Run as administrator and click Continue.

When you see the message saying your computer will be restarted after the malware is removed, click OK to continue.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Note: The TwinFix tool will run silently (i.e. no window will appear) and automatically restart your computer once it has removed the malware you listed in Virus.txt.
