You can install Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009 over the 2008 version without uninstalling the older program.

Before installing Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009, make sure your computer meets the program’s minimum system requirements; otherwise, you may not be able to run or install the software properly.
|
|
|
|
Important: Before upgrading your product, check your serial number. If your serial number begins with the letter P, you need to generate a new serial number before you upgrade to Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009. If your serial number starts with X, proceed to Step 2.
|
|
|
|
2.

Download Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009. Do the following:
|

Close all programs.
|
| |
|
|
| |
b.
|
Download the installer file by clicking on the Windows OS version you are running:
|

|
|
| |
|
• |
Windows XP or Vista 32-bit
|
| |
|
• |
Windows Vista 64-bit
|
| |
|
|
| |
|
Note: To find out whether you are running Windows Vista 32-bit or 64-bit, refer to solution EN-1038409. The 64-bit version of Windows XP is not supported by this product at this time.

When the File Download window appears, click Save.
|
| |
|

| |

On the Save As window, select Desktop on the left pane as the location in which you want to save you file, then click Save.
|

Install Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009 on your system.
|

| |
a.
|
Run the installer file. Do either of the following:
|

On the Download Complete window, click Run.
|
| |
|
|
|
| |

Go to your desktop and click on the installer file. This will be either TrendMicro_TISPro_17.10_en-US_32-bit.exe or TrendMicro_TISPro_17.10_en-US_64-bit.exe

Wait while the installer unpacks the file’s contents.
|
| |

When the installer detects your old Trend Micro program and asks if you want to upgrade to the latest version, click Yes.
|

Read the License Agreement when it opens up, then select I accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next.
|

When prompted, type in your serial number and click Next.
|
| |

| |

| |

|
On the Install Options window,select Regular Installation (recommended) to install the program using the recommended settings.

Click Next.
|

h.
|
Wait for the installer to finish uninstalling the older version of Trend Micro Internet Security Pro.

When the removal is complete and you are prompted to restart your computer, click Restart Now.
|

|
After your computer has restarted, wait while the installer activates the various modules for Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009.

When the installation is complete, you will be prompted to activate your subscription and run an initial update and scan. For instructions on how to do this, refer to the following Knowledge Base article:

For Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2008 users with serial numbers that start with the letter P so that the first sequence is PXXX (where XXX pertains to letters), follow the instructions below to generate a new serial number for Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009:

To start generating your new serial number, go to this webpage.

Type your serial number and email address into the indicated fields then click Get the Free Upgrade.
|

| |
You will be given a new serial number, which you will need when you install Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009 onto your system.
