How to take a screenshot for sending to Trend Micro Technical Support

Problem Description

This article shows you how to get a screenshot that you can send to Trend Micro Technical Support.

Solution

When troubleshooting different issues, especially those with error messages, you may be asked to send a screenshot (also known as a screen capture) of the error message to Trend Micro Technical Support.

 

For instructions on how to take a screenshot, please see the steps below:

 

1.

When you see the error message you wish to capture or when your screen displays the image you want to show to technical support, hit the PRTSCR or PRINT SCREEN key, which is normally on the upper right-hand side of your keyboard.

 

 

2.

Open Microsoft Paint by going to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Note: If you do not have Paint, you can also use Microsoft Word.

 

 

3.

Paste the image onto the new document or canvas.

 

 

 

To do this, you can do either of the following:

Hit CTRL + V on your keyboard.

From the top menu, click Edit and select Paste from the dropdown.

 

 

 

 

 

4.

Once you see the image of your screen you captured, save the file by clicking File > Save.

 

 

 

 

 

5.

When you see the Save As window, select an easy-to-access location, such as your desktop, and specify the filename for the image (for example, "trenderror"). Once done, click Save.

 

 

 

 

 

The screenshot will be saved in the location you selected. You can now attach this to an email and send it to Trend Micro Technical Support.
