How do I enable or disable the mail scanning of Trend Micro Internet Security?

Problem:

This document shows how to disable and enable the mail scanning feature of Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 and 2009.

 

Solution:

By default, the incoming and outgoing mail scan functions are enabled in Trend Micro Internet Security. To enable or disable mail scanning, do the following:

 

Select the Trend Micro Internet Security product you are using:

 

Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009 and Trend Micro Internet Security 2009

Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2009

Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2008 and Trend Micro Internet Security 2008

Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2008

 

For Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009 and Trend Micro Internet Security 2009:

 

1.

Open the Trend Micro Internet Security main console by doing any of the following:

 
 

Click Start > Programs or All Programs > Trend Micro Internet Security > Trend Micro Internet Security.

   

 
 

Double-click the Trend Micro Internet Security icon on the lower right corner of your screen.

 

 

2.

On the left panel, click Virus & Spyware Controls. Under Protection Against Viruses & Spywaresection, click Settings.

 

 

3.

Under Check for the following threats section, put a checkmark in the checkboxes for Threats in incoming mail and Threats in outgoing mail to enable mail scanning. To disable it, remove the checkmarks.

   
 

   

4.

Click OK to save your settings.

   

5.

Close the Trend Micro Internet Security main console.

For Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2009:

 

1.

Open the Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware main console by doing any of the following:

 
 

Click Start > Programs or All Programs > Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware > Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware.

 

 
 

Double-click the Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware icon on the lower right corner of your screen.

 

 

2.

On the left panel, click Virus & Spyware Controls. Under Protection Against Viruses & Spywaresection, click Settings.

 

 

3.

Under Check for the following threats section, put a checkmark in the checkboxes for Threats in incoming mail and Threats in outgoing mail to enable mail scanning. To disable it, remove the checkmarks.

 

 

4.

Click OK to save your settings.

   

5.

Close the Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware main console.
