How to Download the Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2009 Installer

1.

To download the installer file that works with your Windows operating system, click on the appropriate link below:

32-bit version of Windows XP or Windows Vista

64-bit version of Windows Vista
|

Note: To find out whether you are running Windows Vista 32-bit or 64-bit, refer to solution EN-1038925. The 64-bit version of Windows XP is not supported by this product at this time.

On the File Download window that appears, click Save. The Save As window will appear.
|

Select Desktop as the location for the file then click Save.
|
| |
|
| |

|
The download will start. How long it takes to download the file will depend on the speed of your Internet connection. |

How to Install Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2009
|

1.

Once the download is complete, run the installer file by doing either of the following:
|

|

On the Download complete window, click Run.
|
| |
|
|
| |
•
|
Go to your desktop and double-click on the downloaded file.
|
| |
|
| |
Note: If you are using Windows Vista, the message “A program needs your permission to continue” may appear. Click Continue to proceed with the installation.
|

|
|
2.

When the Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware Installation window appears, wait for the program to finish checking your system.
|
| |
|
|
3.
|
When the License Agreement window appears, read it then select I accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next.
|
| |
|
|
4.
|
When you are prompted for your serial number, type it into the field provided and click Next.
|
| |
|
|
Note: Your serial number can be found on the Order Confirmation email you received after you completed your purchase. If you are unable to find the email, go to the Download Information page for our online store. |
|
|
|
5.
|
On the Install Options window, the default option, Regular Installation (recommended) has been selected for you. Click Next to start installing the program.
|
| |
|
|
6.
|
Wait until the installation is complete. You will be able to see a window showing your progress.
|
| |
|
|
7.
|
Once the installation finishes, click Activate Now.
|
| |
|
|
8.
|
Wait while the installer sets up its modules.
|

How to Activate Your Subscription
|

|
Before you can use the product, you need to activate it. To do this, follow the steps below:
|

Go to the Activate Now window.
|
| |
|
| |
If you are connected to the Internet when the installer finishes setting up its modules, you will be taken here automatically.
|
| |
|
| |
If you are on dialup and are not connected to the Internet when the installation is complete, do the following:
|
| |
|
| |

|
Connect to the Internet.
|
| |
|
|
| |
b.
|
Open the main console for Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2009.
|

|
|
| |
c.
|
Click Activate Now.
|
| |
|
|

Select how you wish to activate your product. You will be given two options for activating your product: Create a new account or Sign into your Trend Micro Account. To find out more about each option, click on the links below:

Select this option if the email address you are using has not yet been used to register other Trend Micro products before. This includes older versions of Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware. If you already have a Trend Micro account, but you want to create a new one with a different email address, you can do this as well.
|

|
If you are not sure whether the email address you want to register Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2009 under has already been used, you can just type the address into the required field. The system will verify whether or not your email address has already been registered. One of two things can happen:
|
| |
|
|
| |
|

You may get the error “Address already in use. Enter another address or sign into your account.” This means that your address has been registered on our system. You may use a different address or you may decide to use the existing account.
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
•
|
A green checkmark may appear beside your email address. This means that the address is unique and has not yet been used to register a Trend Micro product. If you get this checkmark, simply fill in all the required fields and click Next to proceed with the activation of your subscription.
|

Sign into your Trend Micro account
|

|
Select this option if your email address is already in our system, which generally occurs if you have registered other Trend Micro products or versions before.
|

|
|
| |
|
If you know that you already have a registered account, but you have forgotten your email address or password, you can click on either the Forgot your password? or the Forgot which email address you used before? links.
|
| |
|
|
| |
|

Once you have activated your program and received the confirmation of your registration with your serial number, expiry date, and name, click Finish.
|
