How do I know the new version will work on my computer?

Check the list of minimum system requirements for the new version of your program. If your computer does not meet these requirements, you may encounter issues with installing or running the program on it.

How can I tell whether or not I am already running the latest version?

To check if you are already running the 2010 version of your program, open up your program to bring up the main console and compare it to the screenshots provided in solution EN-1053723.

If you bought your Trend Micro product from a retail store and still have the box, you can also compare this against the images of product boxes in solution EN-1053722.

Is the upgrade free?

Yes, the upgrade is free, but only if your license has not yet expired. You will be using the same serial number when you perform the upgrade, so the expiration date will remain the same.

What should I do if my license has expired?

If your subscription has expired, you can purchase a renewal or upgrade online or buy the product from a local retail store.

If you are a Dell user, you can also avail of the special loyalty discount and upgrade to Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009 for Dell instead of the standard version. To learn more, refer to solution EN-1054322.

Will the latest versions run on Windows 98, 2000, or 7?

While Windows 7 is supported by the latest versions of Trend Micro Home and Home Office products, this is not true for Windows 98 or 2000. If you are running either of these systems, you will need to upgrade to either Windows XP (at least Service Pack 2), Windows Vista, or Windows 7.

Note: Neither Trend Micro Internet Security 16.6 for Dell nor Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009 for Dell support Windows 7 at this time; only the 2010 products support this operating system.

Should I use the same serial number when upgrading?

Yes. Make sure you take note of your serial number before upgrading since you will be asked to enter it during the installation of the new product.

Note: If you do not know your serial number, refer to solution EN-1037629 to view it on the Program Information window of your main console.

Will the expiration date for my serial number change?

No. Since you will be using the same serial number when you upgrade your program, the expiration date will be carried over.

Do I need to uninstall the older version before installing the newer one?

You will need to uninstall versions older than 2008 before installing newer versions of your product.

Note: If you encounter issues while uninstalling the 2008 or 2009 version, you can use the Diagnostic Toolkit to remove these. For instructions, refer to solution EN-1037161.

For instructions on removing older versions, click on the product you are currently using:

·        PC-cillin Internet Security 12 for Dell (2005)

·        PC-cillin Internet Security 14 / 14.7 for Dell

·        PC-cillin Internet Security 2006 or 2007

·        Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2007

After uninstalling, you can install your Trend Micro 2010 program using your CD or select the program you are using from the list below: 

·         Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2010

·         Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2010

How many computers can I install the latest versions on?

A license for Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2010 or Trend Micro Internet Security 2010 can be used on up to three (3) computers.

Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2010 licenses are good for only one (1) computer.

Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2009 for Dell and Trend Micro Internet Security 16.6 are good for three (3) computers as well.

Note: If you had a single-user license for PC-cillin Internet Security 2006, you can still install Trend Micro Internet Security 2010 on up to three computers after upgrading.
