What is the difference between a primary and secondary user?
For Trend Micro programs you can install on more than one computer, the first computer you install the software on is considered the primary user; the second and third computers are the secondary users.

When will I be prompted to register my program?
If you are connected to the Internet while installing your Trend Micro program, it will prompt you to register before the installation finishes.
If you were not connected to the Internet (i.e. was on a dial-up connection) during installation, you will have to register or activate the program once the installation is finished and when you are next connected to the Internet.

Do I need to reregister every time I install my program on the same computer?

Do I need to reregister my program if I reformat my computer? If so, what will happen to my other license?
Yes, you will need to reregister when you reformat your hard drive since the registration information stored on your computer will be removed.
You will need to use your next license when you register, but don’t worry about losing your license—you can still install and register the program on three machines since you can transfer the older license to another computer.
For a sample scenario to clarify how this can be done, refer to the steps below:
1.
You install the program (e.g. Trend Micro Internet Security 2009) on your first computer and register it using the name “1st computer.”
2.
You then reformat this computer, reinstalling and reregistering the program. During registration, you are prompted for a different name, and you use “1st computer reformatted.” This will now be considered your second registration, and two of your three licenses are considered used.
3.
You install the program on your second computer using the name “2nd computer.” This will now be considered your third registration, and all three of your three licenses are considered used.
4.
You install the program on your third and last computer. When registering, you are prompted to transfer any of your accounts to this computer.
5.
Since you know that the name “1st computer” is no longer used (since you reformatted that computer), you can transfer this to your third computer and, if you wish, change the name to “3rd computer.”

What does it mean when I am asked to enter a unique name during registration?
For versions of Trend Micro program that can be installed on more than one computer, you will need to specify a unique name when you register the program on each computer.
This will differentiate the installations, so you will be able to tell which license was used for which computer to make it easier for you to manage protections or transfer licenses across computers in your network.
For example, you can differentiate the other two installations by using the names “2nd computer” and “3rd computer.”
