This tool has been created to allow Windows XP and Windows Vista users to restore certain Windows files that were misclassified and quarantined as a generic form of Trojan malware (Troj_Generic) by Trend Micro’s pattern file 5.521 or 5.525.

Follow the steps below for Windows XP and Vista:

A.

Create a temporary folder in the Desktop. Right-click on any blank space. A drop down menu appears.

B.

Click on New >Folder. A new folder appears. Right-click on the new folder and click Rename. Rename it as Restore Package.

Download the Restore Package.

C.

On the File Download window, click Save. The Save As window appears.

D.

Select Restore Package folder as the location and click on Save.

E.

When the download is complete, click Close.

F.

Extract the Restore_Package.zip to the Restore Package folder that you created on the desktop.

G.

On your Desktop, double-click the Restore Package folder to open it. The following files must be inside the folder:

RestoreTool.exe

Setup.bat

explorer.exe

rpcss.dll

vsapi32.dll

lpt$vpn.533

rpcss.reg

Office.reg

dcomlauch.reg

Restore Package Readme.doc

H.

Refer to the Restore Package Readme.doc on how to run the restore tool.
