I get the error message "Check your Internet connection and try again" when updating Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007

| | | | To resolve the issue: | |
|
| 1. | Check the presence of Ontrack Fix-It Utilities or Ontrack SystemSuite. | |
|
| |
| If present, uninstall the product because it has an anti-virus program that uses the same scan engine as Trend Micro products. | |
|
| 2. | Check your Internet Connection. This is necessary for performing an update. | |
|
| 3. | Check your proxy settings. | |
|
| |
| Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use proxy servers to connect to the Internet. If your ISP is using a proxy, configure PC-cillin Internet Security to use the proxy and make sure that your proxy information reflects the settings of the ISP. | |
|
| |
| To configure the proxy settings: | |
|
| |
| a. | Open the PC-cillin Internet Security main console. Do any of the following: | |
|
|
| |
|
| • | Click Start > Programs or All Programs > Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007 > Main Console. | |
|
|
|
| |
|
| • | Double-click the PC-cillin icon beside your computer's system clock. | |
|
|
| |
| b. | Click Other Settings > Automatic Update > Settings > Proxy Settings tab. | |
|
|
| |
| c. | Enter your proxy information. | |
|
|
| |
| d. | Click OK. | |
|
| 4. | Check if third-party firewall applications are installed. | |
|
| |
| In some cases, the third-party firewall blocks PC-cillin Internet Security's access to the Internet and causes an error in the update function.
Make sure that PC-cillin Internet Security is given permission to access the Internet and then try updating again. |
