To resolve the issue:

1.

Check the presence of Ontrack Fix-It Utilities or Ontrack SystemSuite.

If present, uninstall the product because it has an anti-virus program that uses the same scan engine as Trend Micro products.

2.

Check your Internet Connection. This is necessary for performing an update.

3.

Check your proxy settings.

Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use proxy servers to connect to the Internet. If your ISP is using a proxy, configure PC-cillin Internet Security to use the proxy and make sure that your proxy information reflects the settings of the ISP.

To configure the proxy settings:

a.

Open the PC-cillin Internet Security main console. Do any of the following:

Click Start > Programs or All Programs > Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007 > Main Console.

Double-click the PC-cillin icon beside your computer's system clock.

b.

Click Other Settings > Automatic Update > Settings > Proxy Settings tab.

c.

Enter your proxy information.

d.

Click OK.

4.

Check if third-party firewall applications are installed.

In some cases, the third-party firewall blocks PC-cillin Internet Security's access to the Internet and causes an error in the update function.

Make sure that PC-cillin Internet Security is given permission to access the Internet and then try updating again.
