When you install one of the following Trend Micro programs on your computer, the installer will look for any third-party software that might conflict with the program. These are other antivirus or antispyware programs currently or previously installed on your computer.

Trend Micro recommends removing any third-party software installed on your computer before installing your Trend Micro Internet Security or Trend Micro AntiVirus program. To uninstall conflicting programs using the Windows Add/Remove Programs feature, follow the steps below:

 

Note: If you are having problems removing remaining components of your previous antivirus program from your computer, you can run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to uninstall them. Click here for instructions. You can also refer to the program's website for uninstall instructions.

 

1.

Close all open programs and windows.

   

2.

Follow either of the instructions below:

   
 

For Windows XP users:

   
 

Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.

   
   
 

For Windows Vista users:

   
 

Click Start (the Windows orb) > Control Panel > Uninstall a program.

   
 

   

For Windows 7 users:

Click Start (the Windows orb) > Control Panel > Uninstall a program.

3.

When the window with the currently installed programs in your computer appears, select the program you want to uninstall and click Remove or Uninstall. Follow the instructions shown.

   

4.

When you are asked to restart, restart your computer to complete the uninstall process.
